For Better Or Worse (104)

♫ ♫♫ ♫ ♫♫ ♫ ♫♫

For better or worse,
I recall the words well.
So very much in love,
We could only hear bells.

Walkin' down that aisle,
How beautiful you were!
We exchanged simple vows,
Before our church pastor.

And better did come,
Our early years so happy.
Intimate times together,
And then our first baby.

When you're in love,
'Seems no end will come.
Worse is unimaginable;
It only happens to some!

But over the years,
Along came the worse.
What only happened to some,
Was now happening to us.

For better or worse,
I recall the words well.
Soft sound of your voice,
The ringing of the bells.

For better or worse,
We affirmed our vows.
For richer or poorer,
I hear those words now.

For better or worse,
The promises we made.
'Til death do us part,
My memory won't fade.

For better or worse,
Those four simple words.
We promised each other;
We promised The LORD.

For better or worse,
Sacred promise broken.
And now I wonder,
Have we been forgiven?

Yeah, I still wonder ...
Have we been forgiven?
Didn't get through worse,
But we gotta start livin'!

One version of the traditional Christian wedding vows ....

"[Name], do you take [Name] to be your wedded [husband/wife] to live together in marriage. Do you promise to love, comfort, honor and keep [him/her]. For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. And forsaking all others, be faithful only to [him/her] so long as you both shall live?"

What vows did you make? Did you keep them?
